Exhaust Problems to Look out for

A healthy exhaust system is essential to maintaining the optimal efficiency of your car’s engine. If you see signs of any of the following, it’s a good idea to have your exhaust checked out by an expert.

Rattling

This can be caused simply by the brackets that hold the exhaust system in place coming loose. It’s an easy fix and we can quickly put that right for you.

Roaring

If you hear a roaring noise, the most likely cause is that the silencer has a problem.

Hissing or Popping

This is a sign that the muffler or one of the pipes is leaking.

Blue Smoke Emission

In addition to performing their own very important role, exhausts can also indicate when repairs may be needed elsewhere in your vehicle. If you see blue smoke being emitted, it can be the result of a problem in the engine causing burnt oil to be emitted via the exhaust system.

White Smoke Emission

After starting the engine, if the exhaust constantly emits white smoke it points to a problem such as a coolant leakage where the white smoke is caused by burning anti-freeze. Blown head gaskets and cracks in the engine are possible causes.
